Howdy Folks,

 

Just in! Stovalls first annual Championship washer tournament will be this Sunday, November 2nd,  at 2:00, to 7:00 ?.  Steve has put together a great fall Sunday event. Entry fee for team of two is $20.00 and includes a delicious barbecue and goes to the prize money for winners.  Non competitors can buy a plate for $5.00.  Should be lots of fun, a tossing, hootin and hollering over the game.  Plain old fashioned good time.

 

Nothing like the crunchy leaves under your boot, warming by the fire, and dancing up a storm at the grove.  Don’t forget that Colonel Ford and Roughriders will be playing Wednesday, Nov. 26th, the night before Thanksgiving.  Get out of the house, and enjoy a fun kick off to the holiday weekend. Stovalls is also the best for entertaining your out of town guests for an evening of unique Missouri Country fun.  Send the college students, Aunt Hazel, and the cousins down to the Grove, to listen to the best country music shows in the Midwest, experience the conviviality of Stovalls, and maybe take a turn dancing on the floor.  Yup – that ‘ll be mighty fine.

 

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Sunday Music Series Stovalls Grove Chili Cook Off, November 16th .  If you think your chili is fantastic , enter your crock pot full of red chili, get free entry for the cook, and enjoy the judging and tasting of West County Stovall Chili Contestants.  We will have all the fixins, hot dogs, cheese, onions to adorn your favorite recipe.  Whether you are a cook or just a taster, you’ll enjoy the fun.  Sign up at hall.

Gremlins and Goblins and Witches on brooms, You are invited to party under the moon!
It’s the Stovall’s Halloween party that’ll be such a fright, dancing, spooking and music all night! Join in the fun for evening of country music with  Colonel Ford and the Roughriders  and Stovall’s Costume Contest. Dress as your favorite cowboy or ghoul, or just watch the zany characters. Contest Judging by a panel of our regulars. Reservations suggested.

 

Stovalls First Annual Championship Washer Tournament, Sunday, November 2nd, 2:00 to 7:00 PM

Sunday is the perfect day to enjoy a championship washer tournament.  Put the washer where your mouth is and pitch for all the glory. Prize money, great barbecue, contests, and hootenanny. Two man team entry is $20.00 includes your barbecues, and contributes to the big ole’ pot of loot if you win.  Should be lots o fun. $5.00 barbecue plates available for non competitors and hecklers. 

 

Sunday  Music Series –Stovall’s Grove Chili Cook Off-  Sunday, November 16th, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM  - Diesel Island -Traditional country western, hillbilly and some Top 40 

The Diesel Island band hosts our Stovall’s Chili contest open to anyone, sign up, and bring crockpot of chili for contest. Enjoy all the fixins with the chili entries. Entrants should bring their chili in a crockpot to keep contents warm. Cowboy up and get your chow on.  We’ll provide the electric, onions, cheese, and hot dogs to accompany your tasty chili!  Tasters welcome to help judge the Best darn chili in Wildwood. $10.00 door includes chili and music.  Each crockpot of chili is good for one free door.

The Missouri Valley Boys - Shows –  Saturday , November 8th, and Friday, November 28th  - 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM   ( Traditional country western, hillbilly and some Top 40)

Missouri Valley Boys have made Stovall’s Grove the “Home of country music since 1935” featuring Traditional Country Western and Hillbilly music.  Musical talents of the Missouri Valley Boys showcase  Allen Cully, on vocals and bass, Terry Miller on vocals and guitar, Donny Sloan on drums,  Fred Williams, lead guitar and vocals, Mark Vaccaro on fiddle and Pat Heller on pedal steel guitar . Step back into genuine country music history with classic songs made famous by Ray Price, George Jones, Ernest Tubbs, Lefty Frizell, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams.   Ya’ll come.

 

Diesel Island– Show–Halloween Costume Contest, Friday, October 31st 8:30 PM to 12:30AM

 (Classic Traditional country, Rockabilly, 70’s outlaw country, and Variety)

Voted best traditional country band by Riverfront Times this year. Groove to your favorite country classics, with 70’s outlaw, and even some rockabilly, with Brian Henneman, on lead guitar, Kip Loui, on rhythm guitar, Richard Tralles on Standup Bass, Carl Pandolfi on piano, and Spencer Marquart on percussion. It’s a hoot!

 

Fred and the Rangers- Shows – Saturdays, November 1st, 15th and 29th   8:30 to 12:30 PM

(Classic and Traditional Country western, Rockabilly, and some Top Forty)

Ooh, Baby, is this band hot! Fred and his band have been long time friends and musicians at Stovalls for 25 years!   Fred and the Rangers have played Nashville and have many cds available with their fabulous country style. Fred Ermmentrout, leads the fast pace on vocals and lead guitar, with Wally McCanless, on Bass, Ron Mecey, on pedal steel, and Clay on drums.  Whether you are from Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, or Missouri – a delightful evening of plenty.

 

Hillbilly Authority - Show -Friday, November 7th- 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM

(Traditional Country, New, Southern Rock, Variety, some Top 40)

With a repertoire consisting of everything from traditional to new country and from southern rock to original music, Hillbilly Authority delivers a high-energy stage show that appeals to music fans of all varieties. Greg Manis, vocals and  guitar,  Mike Hatfield, vocals and keyboards, Scottie Kemp, lead guitar, and vocals, Dan O’Neil, on drums, and Rick Steiling on Bass. A special treat for all.

 

The Roadhouse Kings, with Thayne Bradford- Friday, November 14th, - 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM (Traditional and Classic Country, Variety, some Top Forty)

Some Mighty fine entertainment that’s sure to get your honey and boots a moving. Thayne Bradford, on fiddle , squeezebox, and vocals, John Higgins, on steel guitar and vocals, Randy Shore on Bass and vocals, Don Drewit on drums.  Outrageously great entertainment!

 

Thayne Bradford and The Boudreauxs- Friday,November 21st- 8:30 to 12:30 PM

(Traditional and Classic Country, Rockabilly, Cajun, Variety)

Aieee, enjoy the good life, with exceptionally fine country music. Real country music playing with its roots. Sweet melodies on classic instruments of squeeze box, fiddle and steel, countered with killer harmonies, and rifts.  Thayne Bradford rustles up some of the best talent to blow off the doors with Thayne Bradford, on fiddle, squeeze box, guitar, and vocals, Dade Farrar, on bass and vocals, Bob Breidenbach, on pedal-steel and vocals and Scotty Hughes on drums. So much talent for too much fun, don’t miss out!

 

The Rock Creek Country Boys Show – Saturday, November 22nd-  8:30 PM to 12:30 AM

(Hillbilly, Honky Tonk, and Traditional Country)

Get ready for a country rodeo on the fretboards with Gary Hunt, on fiddle, guitar, and vocals,  Bobby Regot on drums,  Pat Heller, on pedal steel, and Wally McCanless on bass and vocals. Mighty fine indeed.

 

Colonel Ford and the Rough Riders – Show –Wednesday, November 26th- 8:30-12:30 AM

(Hillbilly, Honky Tonk, and Traditional Country)

Honky Tonk music at its finest .Gary Hunt leads the band in that county western high lonesome sound. Gary Hunt, guitar, fiddle, and vocals, Dade Farrar, Standup bass, and vocals, Jay Farrar, pedal steel ,  Johnny Horton, guitar, and Dan Kathriner, drums and vocals.  Mighty fine music and a great big howdy of country. Country music just doesn’t get any better than this. 

 

Open Mike Wednesdays- Wednesdays, November 5th, 12th, and 19th- 7:00 to ? PM

(Open Mike –Various country genres, Traditional country, Hillbilly, Top Forty, Southern Rock, Americana)

It’s Back- ya’ll come! Razzle, Dazzle with your talent at the time honored tradition of open mike at Stovalls.  Various musicians gather to share their musical guitar, bass, fiddle, accordion and vocals with much impromptu harmonies, voicings, and great fun.  Play, sing, or just enjoy watching the shows. All welcome.  Any style related to country.  Must be twenty one. 

 

DANCE LESSONS:

 

Dance Lessons - Thursdays , November 6th, 13th, and 20th  - Starting at 7:00 P.M.Very robust and bustling evening at the Grove. Crazy good fun that gets everyone moving with a new level of fun, stylish moves, and great dances. Learn the latest country western dances, meet nice people, and get fit. From classic country western line dances -the boot scoot boogie, Diamond reggae, Black Velvet, Trouble, Tush Push, Electric Slide, Slap Leather, Cruisin, to country western couples dances- Stationery Cha Cha, San Antonio Stroll, Ridin’ Double, L.A Two Step, Cotton Mouth,  you can learn them all.  Beginner to Advanced with or without partners. Time to get  slapping, and scootin. $3.00 per person. Advanced dancers should inquire about the competition teams.
