A good nip of frost in the air really sets off the music hall and Grove. Get ready for smoking hot country music, crunchy leaves and hypnotizing campfires, and of course, some mighty fine rockin’ musicians.

 

Thanks to everyone for the great attendance at the Billy Bryant Benefit.  Rest in peace Billy – we will miss you and your great music. Special shout out to Schmitts and Grins bandmembers, Bill Highley, Terry Miller, Allen Cully, Percy and other performing guest artists for donating your time and tunes to the event.  The Bryant Family thanks each of you who made the day so very special.

 

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Sunday Music Series Stovalls Grove Red Chili Cook Off, November 16th .  If you think your chili is fantastic , enter your crock pot full of red chili, get free entry for the cook, and enjoy the judging and tasting of West County Stovall Chili Contestants.  We will have all the fixins, hot dogs, cheese, onions to adorn your favorite recipe.  Whether you are a cook or just a taster, you’ll enjoy the fun.  Sign up at hall.

Halloween Costume Contest with the Diesel Island Band - Friday, October 31st- 8:30 to 12:30 PM

Gremlins and Goblins and Witches on brooms, You are invited to party under the moon!

It’s the Stovall’s Halloween party that’ll be such a fright, dancing, spooking and music all night! Join in the fun for evening of country music with The Diesel Island Band and Stovall’s Costume Contest. Dress as your favorite cowboy or ghoul, or just watch the zany characters. Contest Judging by a panel of our regulars. Reservations suggested.

The Missouri Valley Boys - Shows –  Saturdays , October 4th, and 11th - 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM   ( Traditional country western, hillbilly and some Top 40)

Missouri Valley Boys have made Stovall’s Grove the “Home of country music since 1935” featuring Traditional Country Western and Hillbilly music.  Musical talents of the Missouri Valley Boys showcase  Allen Cully, on vocals and bass, Terry Miller on vocals and guitar, Donny Sloan on drums,  Fred Williams, lead guitar and vocals, Mark Vaccaro on fiddle and Pat Heller on pedal steel guitar . Step back into genuine country music history with classic songs made famous by Ray Price, George Jones, Ernest Tubbs, Lefty Frizell, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams.   Ya’ll come.

 

Colonel Ford and the Rough Riders – Show – Friday, October 3rd- 8:30-12:30 AM

(Hillbilly, Honky Tonk, and Traditional Country)

Honky Tonk music at its finest .Gary Hunt leads the band in that county western high lonesome sound. Gary Hunt, guitar, fiddle, and vocals, Dade Farrar, Standup bass, and vocals, Jay Farrar, pedal steel ,  Johnny Horton, guitar, and Dan Kathriner, drums and vocals.  Mighty fine music and a great big howdy of country. Country music just doesn’t get any better than this. 

 

Fred and the Rangers- Shows – Friday, October 10th and Saturdays, October 18th and November 1st- 8:30 to 12:30 PM

(Classic and Traditional Country western, Rockabilly, and some Top Forty)

Ooh, Baby, is this band hot! Fred and his band have been long time friends and musicians at Stovalls for 25 years!   Fred and the Rangers have played Nashville and have many cds available with their fabulous country style. Fred Ermmentrout, leads the fast pace on vocals and lead guitar, with Wally McCanless, on Bass, Ron Mecey, on pedal steel, and Clay on drums.  Whether you are from Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, or Missouri – a delightful evening of plenty.

 

Schmitts and Grins, Show- Friday -October 17th-  3:00 to 7:00 PM  Lots of fun with the Schmitts and Grins Band, Ken Schmitt, on guitar and vocals, Bill Highley on Mandolin, and vocals, Ron Schmidt on vocals, Terry Donnelly, on lead guitar and vocals, Joe Smith, on Doghouse Bass and Banjo, and Joseph Ecklecamp on keyboard.  Not a thing missing and 100% genuine country.

 

Hillbilly Authority - Show -Friday, October 24th- 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM

(Traditional Country, New, Southern Rock, Variety, some Top 40)

With a repertoire consisting of everything from traditional to new country and from southern rock to original music, Hillbilly Authority delivers a high-energy stage show that appeals to music fans of all varieties. Greg Manis, vocals and  guitar,  Mike Hatfield, vocals and keyboards, Scottie Kemp, lead guitar, and vocals, Dan O’Neil, on drums, and Rick Steiling on Bass. A special treat for all.  

 

Diesel Island– Show–Halloween Costume Contest, Friday, October 31st- 8:30 PM to 12:30AM

(Classic Traditional country, Rockabilly, 70’s outlaw country, and Variety)

Voted best traditional country band by Riverfront Times this year. Groove to your favorite country classics, with 70’s outlaw, and even some rockabilly, with Brian Henneman, on lead guitar, Kip Loui, on rhythm guitar, Richard Tralles on Standup Bass, Carl Pandolfi on piano, and Spencer Marquart on percussion. It’s a hoot!

 

The Rock Creek Country Boys Show – Saturday, October 25th -  8:30 PM to 12:30 AM

(Hillbilly, Honky Tonk, and Traditional Country)

Get ready for a country rodeo on the fretboards with Gary Hunt, on fiddle, guitar, and vocals,  Bobby Regot on drums,  Pat Heller, on pedal steel, and Wally McCanless on bass and vocals. Mighty fine indeed.

 

Open Mike Wednesdays- Wednesdays, October 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th- 7:00 to ? PM

( Open Mike –Various country genres, Traditional country, Hillbilly, Top Forty, Southern Rock, Americana)

It’s Back- ya’ll come! Razzle, Dazzle with your talent at the time honored tradition of open mike at Stovalls.  Various musicians gather to share their musical guitar, bass, fiddle, accordion and vocals with much impromptu harmonies, voicings, and great fun.  Play, sing, or just enjoy watching the shows. All welcome.  Any style related to country.  Must be twenty one. 

 

DANCE LESSONS:

 

Dance Lessons - Thursdays , October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th - Starting at 7:00 P.M.Very robust and bustling evening at the Grove. Crazy good fun that gets everyone moving with a new level of fun, stylish moves, and great dances. Learn the latest country western dances, meet nice people, and get fit. From classic country western line dances -the boot scoot boogie, Diamond reggae, Black Velvet, Trouble, Tush Push, Electric Slide, Slap Leather, Cruisin, to country western couples dances- Stationery Cha Cha, San Antonio Stroll, Ridin’ Double, L.A Two Step, Cotton Mouth,  you can learn them all.  Beginner to Advanced with or without partners. Time to get  slapping, and scootin. $3.00 per person. Advanced dancers should inquire about the competition teams.
